We are a small, independent, Tokyo-based investment firm. Every person on the team has chosen to be here over more conventional alternatives. That is the starting point.
The team is drawn from global investment banks, a top-tier Japanese institutional investor, specialist hedge funds, a major law firm, and natural sciences research. Backgrounds vary widely; what unifies the team is a particular orientation — long-career professionals who chose independence over scale, willing to do the slow, unglamorous bottom-up work that this market requires, and honest with themselves and each other about what they know and do not know.
How we work is consequential. The organisation is flat — hierarchy is functional, not status-based. Disagreement is welcomed and resolved on the evidence. Team members invest meaningful personal wealth alongside our investors. We hire and compensate for long tenures.
We do not maintain a formal jobs board, and we do not hire often. When we do, we are typically looking for senior or mid-career professionals with substantive prior experience whom we would be glad to work with for many years.
